Linda Ortiz gets great satisfaction from knowing that she can make a difference.
Linda has always liked to help others, and has been working in healthcare for 3 years now. She joined the Recruitment Alley team of CNAs in October of 2020 and has been a key player ever since.
Linda’s hard work and determination has earned her the title of Recruitment Alley’s Healthcare Rockstar of the Month for April 2021.
“I wish I knew about Recruitment Alley way back before!” said Linda. “I just thought, let me give this a try, maybe they’re not even real!’”
Even during the height of the COVID pandemic, she continued to do her best to provide top quality care to her residents. Her experience in catching COVID herself eased her nerves about the virus—she was out for about a week, but was able to bounce back with no issues.
“At first I was a little bit nervous about it, especially working with residents that had COVID,” said Linda. “After I got COVID myself I was more like, ‘Oh I think I can do it because I overcame COVID.’ So I was more strong in mind.”
Linda stays motivated by knowing that her kindness and compassion can make a significant difference in the lives of others.
She hopes to eventually go back to school to get her LVN license, and stay working in skilled nursing facilities because of the close relationships between nurses and residents.
“Some people, they don’t even have anything but us,” said Linda. “It feels so great, at the end of the day, knowing that you make a difference in someone’s life.”
One of her fondest memories was of a resident whom she cared for during their late stage of life.
“It was very touching because she opened up to me. It was kind of hard, and her family let me know after she passed, we were in close communications,” said Linda. “It’s always hard seeing them pass, especially when they open up to you.”
Despite her initial hesitation, Linda’s experience with Recruitment Alley has erased any doubt about the company—she loves working with the RA team on the floor. Her advice for new CNAs is to put their heart into their work and do their part in helping our team grow.
“I 100% recommend Recruitment Alley to anyone who’s looking for a job in healthcare,” said Linda. “This is a great team, I’m so glad I came across Recruitment Alley and I’m planning to stay for a long time.”
